Welcome to your winter edition of Conference Call

What an eventful year 2015 has been!

On 12 November, the EICC held the fifth annual Scottish Business Awards. The event has previously featured influential names including Bill Clinton and Richard Branson, and this year was no exception as actor, director and humanitarian George Clooney took to the stage. In this issue’s Case Study, we hear from the event’s founder and entrepreneur Josh Littlejohn about what has made the awards such a resounding success.

In our new feature, Local Life, we speak to another leading business figure in Edinburgh and Scotland, Jamie Coleman. Jamie is the Managing Director and founder of CodeBase, the largest tech incubator in the UK. He tells us why he is so passionate about supporting start-ups and gives us an insight into his favourite spots in the capital.

The Scottish Business Awards is only one of many high-profile events that the EICC has held over the last 20 years. As we celebrated our 20th anniversary in September, we reflect on our greatest achievements in ‘Highlights at the EICC’.

We are never ones to stand still however and in this issue, we also look ahead to 2016 – Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design. With the expertise of Karen Anderson from Architecture and Design Scotland, we take a tour around some of Edinburgh’s most iconic buildings.

We hope you enjoy this issue of Conference Call and please do get in touch if you have any feedback.
