HRH The Princess Royal

On 15 January 2015, we welcomed HRH The Princess Royal to officially open the Lennox Suite, the key feature of our recent £30 million expansion. The Lord Lieutenant and Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, The Rt. Hon. Donald Wilson and the Scottish Government Minister for Business, Energy and Tourism, Fergus Ewing MSP, were in attendance at this important milestone event.

The Lennox Suite was officially opened following HRH The Princess Royal initiating a computer-controlled sequence of changes to the Suite's revolutionary hall-wide moving-floor system. This unique feature provides clients with incredible flexibility and has strengthened the EICC’s position as one of the world’s most technologically advanced event spaces.

Fergus Ewing MSP commented on increasing the EICC’s world-class offering: “We will work together with the industry to leverage the reputation that Scotland has gained on the global stage into even greater returns for business tourism. Business tourism is a perfect example of how we can continue to export goods, people and ideas around the world and, at the same time, welcome ideas, innovation and people into our national culture.”

“In the presence of HRH Princess Royal, we were delighted to be able to demonstrate the innovative flexibility of this magnificent new space to 400 leaders of the international and national events industry. Together with our business partners, we created a magical occasion, designed to inspire many future bookings for Edinburgh and the EICC.” Karen Wood, EICC's Head of Events
