ESA's Living Planet 2013

EICC Welcomes its One Millionth Delegate

At the ESA Living Planet Symposium
Fergus Ewing MSP and Hans Rissmann present Professor Philippa Berry, the EICC's one millionth delegate, with a commemorative quaich at the ESA Living Planet Symposium.

We welcomed scientists from across the world for the European Space Agency's Living Planet Symposium, where 1,700 scientists (including our one millionth delegate) gathered to discuss developments in the industry. You can find out more about the event by reading the case study.

Tesco Wine Fair

In its 10th anniversary year, the Tesco Wine Fair returned to the EICC, making use of our spectacular Lennox Suite. With more than 250 still and sparkling wines from all over the world available to taste, this event was a big hit with the people of Edinburgh.

"We were delighted with the response to our sell-out Wine Fair. Our 45 exhibitors and wine experts met more than 2,300 consumers at the EICC this year. Edinburgh never disappoints and we look forward to returning for an even bigger event next year!"

Laura Jewell, Master of Wine at Tesco

ICE Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters 2013

Over 450 international delegates attended the Institution of Civil Engineers' (ICE) conference on maritime and coastal engineering at the EICC in September. The 2013 conference was the biggest in the history of the event series and saw 130 papers being presented over the three days. The event was a huge success.

Natural Capital

The first ever World Forum on Natural Capital was held at the EICC in November. A host of speakers, including the First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond, addressed the challenge of properly valuing the economic benefits we derive from nature. The event was a great success and demonstrates that the sustainable use of our natural resources is still very much at the top of the political agenda.

"Bringing this issue to the attention of a wider audience is now urgent. The EICC was the ideal venue at which to launch this inaugural event."

Jo Pike, Project Director
World Forum on Natural Capital
